How to Import Foreign Configurations Using the Virtual Disk Management Menu

You can also view the foreign configuration from the Foreign View tab Without importing the configuration. Note that the controller does not allow importing of configurations that result In more than 64 virtual disks for an Enterprise-level PERC controller Or 32 virtual disks for an Entry-level PERC controller.

If you take out the physical disks, which are part of the virtual disk, From one server and insert it into another server, Or if you swap the slots, the controller will identify those disks as a foreign configuration. To import the foreign configuration, follow these steps: During start-up, press F2 when prompted by the BIOS screen.

It will direct you to the System Setup Main Menu. Go to Device Settings on this page. Select the RAID controller, and it will direct you to the Main Menu page. Select Physical Disk Management. You will see all available physical disks with foreign configurations.

Go back to the Main Menu and select Configuration Management, And then go to Manage Foreign Configuration. Click on Preview Foreign Configuration, followed by Import Foreign Configuration. A message will ask you if you want to proceed.

Select Confirm and click Yes to proceed further. When finished, it will display "The operation has been performed successfully." Click OK to continue. Then go back and click Virtual Disk Management.
