Description

EqualLogic DX6000, BIOS, 3.0.0

Level of Importance:Recommended

Dell recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains feature enhancements or changes that will help keep your system software current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers and software).

Important Information

This BIOS release includes an update for a correctable single bit error rate issue on one specific set of industry-standard memory DIMMs shipped in Dell systems between July 2010 and October 2010. These DIMMs may result in an increased rate of E2111 (correctable memory errors). For affected systems, this BIOS update has an impact on power savings. This BIOS modifies DIMM power management settings for specific configurations, only those with the potentially affected DIMMs, to eliminate the condition which can cause excessive errors. This BIOS may disable the Package C6 power state. Disabling the Package C6 power state will result in increased system power consumption at system idle, but will not impact system runtime power consumption. The BIOS update will not modify DIMM power management for systems that do not have the affected DIMMs.

Fixes & Enhancements

* This update resolves an issue with a specific set of industry-standard memory DIMMs which may result in an elevated number of correctable memory errors while in system idle mode. These errors are primarily exhibited as E2111 (correctable memory errors). This issue is not unique to Dell servers and is resolved in this BIOS revision. * Added support for an option to disable predictive memory failure reporting using the Deployment Toolkit. * Updated the embedded 5709 UEFI driver to version 6.2.0 * Added Support for Dell Lifecycle Controller 1.5 As always, customers who need assistance with BIOS updates may contact Dell technical support.
