Fixes & Enhancements
This firmware has numerous enhancements to the drive including an improved load/unload operation. It also addresses several read/write errors encountered with bad tape media.
Dell branded LTO2 media with a specific serial number may cause symptoms such as failure to load or eject media as well as the illumination of the fault LED.
Drive Behavior:
Dell PowerVault 110T LTO-2-L (Certance):
When the affected media is inserted into a Dell PowerVault 110T LTO-2-L (Certance) drive the amber Error LED will illuminate and the media cannot be written or read. The media can be ejected by pressing the eject button. Version v1914 firmware will properly address the media issue.
Dell Technologies recommends applying this update during your next scheduled update cycle. The update contains changes to maintain overall system health. It ensures that the system software remains current and compatible with other system modules (firmware, BIOS, drivers, and software) and may include other new features.
