Troubleshooting cooling fans
About this task
CAUTION: Many repairs may only
be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform
troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation,
or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team.
Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are
shipped with your product.
Steps
- Log in to the CMC interface and identify the faulty fan. For more information, see the Dell Chassis Management Controller for Dell PowerEdge VRTX User’s Guide at Dell.com/esmmanuals.
- Open the system.
- Reseat the fan.
- If the fan functions properly, close the system.
- If the fan does not function, install a new fan.
- Close the system.
If the replacement fan does not operate, see Getting Help.
