XPS 13 9360 QHD+ random screen flicker/flash

I got my brand new XPS 13 9360 a few days ago and I experience a very strange phenomenon : randomly, I get the whole screen flicker/flash to black very quickly once or a few times in a row. Then it doesn't flicker for a long time : it seems to happen 1 to 3 times in an evening for example.

Do you experience such a phenomenon ? I've tried tweaking the settings of the video driver but it didn't change anything. I'm not sure but the problem may have started when I upgraded the BIOS from 1.0.7 to 1.2.3 on the 14th of December.

Please help, I don't know if I should send it back or ask for a motherboard or screen swap.

Hello, I had the same problem with an XPS 13 9360 with Windows 10 Pro. After uninstalling Hyper-V all works fine.

I have found the solution here:

@Saulomg I got rid of hyper-V as well. And haven't noticed any flickering yet. But, since I'm someone who NEEDS hyper-V, and it seems like you do too (since you had it turned on), how are you going to use it?

Any updates on this issue? I still face the flickering. I need to use Docker so I have to have Hyper-V enabled. We need a fix soon please...

EDIT: The issue has resurfaced again out of nowhere... so I'm removing the suggested answer thingy...

Okay. After struggling with this issue for quite some time, I think I chanced upon a sort-of fix. Here's what I did:

- Open Device Manager

- Under Display adapters, right click on Intel HD Graphics 620 and Uninstall Device

 - I did not delete the downloaded driver when prompted

- Restart

Windows recognized and installed the driver automagically. There were (hopefully) unrelated updates to the storage technology from Dell after the same time but I think its just coincidental.

Thanks!

Actually, uninstalling driver does not solve issue for me. It blinks a less often, but issue is still there.

Hi guys I'm just searching for the same issue and reached out here.

I faced this issue very randomly on my new 9360 too.

I have upgraded the BIOS to 1.3.2 just today, but the flickering still exists..

Is there any update or anyone has fixed it already?

Actually it is so disappointed to pay such a premium for unexpectedly lots of bugs. (Including this)

I'm using the QHD+ model.

At the beginning, my xps faced another issue that:

When it sleeps and wakes up, 30% of the right side of the touchscreen is disabled.

I called the Dell support in HK, they just come and try google in front of me!

Lastly, they figured out nothing but took the last resort..  "prepared" a new monitor for me and fixed the issue by luck

Now...and now I have a pink monitor with silver body.

Yes, you're right. The issue resurfaced out of nowhere. I've edited my post. Question is however, is this a hardwaare or a software bug?

I think this can get fixed by software updates. I hope Dell does this quick. I'm very upset.

@DELL.... Please, some clarity is required. What's the solution to this problem? Should I get my laptop replaced or is there a software fix coming?

Got my XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7-7500, 16GB, SSD 512GB yesterday. BIOS and drivers are all the newest, upgraded to Windows 10 Pro 1703.

With enabling Hyper-V I had the same problems carico05 describes.

I found out that disabling the C-States Option in the Firmware is the solution to run Hyper-V without screen flickering.

So I think Dell has to update the Firmware again, something is wrong with the C-States setting.

It seems that Hyper-V is somehow one of the reasons?

I have no idea for Hyper-V actually...is this enabled in my xps in default?

I face this issue even if I haven't used the Hyper-V.

FYI. The flickering occurs less frequently these days.

However, I still couldn't find a solution to solve it entirely...

Has anyone got any update on that?

Unfortunately the 4k 9560 also suffers from the same issue: en.community.dell.com/.../20007351

I also have the XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7-7500, 16GB, and SSD 512 GB. I contacted Dell support and received some unhelpful suggestions (Run LCD BIST; run system setup). Has anyone had a constructive conversation with Dell about how to solve this problem?

Keep in mind that disabling c-states would increase battery consumption by a considerable amount.
