Area 51 R2 CD Button Not Working

Just got a used Area 51 R2. The CD button on front won't eject the CD. I can eject them by right-clicking on the drive in This PC and using "Eject". Tried to install the Software Eject Driver, but it says I already have a newer one installed? There is only one listed on the driver download page, so how can I have a newer one already? Can someone help please?

Since it works from Explorer, sounds like you are on the right track (drive is mechanically good).

At least you have a work-around. Do you really use optical drive that much?

Updated driver might have come from Windows Update.

I have the same problem, in my previous R2 I couldnt even get past POST which after many visits, MoBo and front IO boards being swapped out they found out it was the eject button had broken down internally and was causing a major fault on startup.

Shame this is still an issue, such a small thing and yet can cause untold issues.

Hi @scnrfrq,

Try by uninstalling the driver completely, you can use Revo uninstaller to make sure it is removed from Programs & Features,  and then reinstall this one.
