Aurora R13, getting XMP memory?

it's been a point of discussion before and support confirmed no XMP support! But then they announced on Twitter that there would be XMP support for Kingston Fury.  So they actually can support XMP?

there's a twitch link i posted that has the explanation that they originally restricted the memory but with XMP it can now run at 4800 for the Kingston fury

The stock ram runs at 4800, but only if you put in one stick, two sticks drop down to 4400.   Could be exactly the same with the Kinston, just some marketing magic they fail to say full 4800 with a single module.

It's the same marketing as the most upgradable Alienware system ever, yet almost everything is OEM and the opposite of upgradable.

Typically XMP frequency is restricted by the design of the traces. I highly doubt they will be able to enable the kind of XMP profiles you would see from a retail board.

I would not hold my breath for it, but who knows. Maybe they will have a pleasant surprise for us.

The highest any ram or amount of sticks you put it is 4400MHz..

Listening to the video is extremely misleading at the least.  It was said that memory was going to be released on the 19th, which apparently didn't happen.  Then it's said that you can run it at 4800 IF the XMP profiles are available, which they aren't.  Can't find the memory on the dell site anywhere.  Also can't find the notes they mentioned that would also have a link on Alienware Arena.  /shrugs

Watch the twitch stream, they do say it will run at 4800 with multiple sticks unlike the sticks they originally had at launch (even those were 4800 as well) https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1531687824 around minute 11

Well, according to Dell's website -

You can now add 4800MHz RAM (DDR5, 4800 MHz, XMP) to your R13 build in Dell's Customize & Buy for the R13. However, you have to choose the K variant (12700K or 12900K) processor - and not the regular 12700 or 12900 - or it says "The Processor selected is incompatible with the Memory selected."

Can you link to it?  I don't see the options.  I'm on the USA dell site.  The only K CPU they have available for the R13 is the 12900KF, for the $4,219.00 build, and you can't change the RAM on it.

I have the 12900KF processor with 64GB Kingston Fury Ram. How would I enable XMP?

Yeah I saw that also last night. No 64GB option. You have to upgrade to the K variant as it won't work with the regular 12700 or 12900 processors. Maybe they will eventually get it right with the new 13000 Intel series and Ryzen processors.

Also, all I see is that only two 16GB sticks will run at 4800. Unless they are also planning to have a pair of 32GB sticks that could run at 4800, it's just more marketing double talk to me. I'm not going to downsize my RAM pool from 64GB to 32GB just to be able to run 32GB at 4800. Even if that were to eventually be the case, given the parts shortages and supply chain issues, if and when the RAM would be available to buy as an after initial system purchase upgrade is open for debate. I wouldn't hold my breath. smh

That's odd how it's not showing up where I was at.  Also, the link you gave doesn't allow for the 1000w PSU.  So weird.

The original stock ram is rated at 4800 by hynix, so you have to buy their Dell "special ram" in order to run at stock speeds?
