Aurora R5, GPU upgrade, #10
Hello! I am a complete noob to this but ive had my desktop for a long time and finding it harder to run games and even photo editing software so i wanted to upgrade my GPU. Ive been researching and a lot of posts sound too complicated for me. What is the highest GPU I can get for my current desktop that requires the easiest amount of work without having to install other things?
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 -6100 CPU @3.70GHz
Nvidia geforce gtx 950 Installed
RAM 8GB
Is my computer maybe too old?
Thanks!

Yeah can take a few things up like ram CPU and GPU but your not going to gain much todays games seem to getting power hungry. I looked up your set up not sure if its the correct one though. It looks like you can add a I7K that's better then yours. The ram you can always add more of that. The GPU depends on what you want to spend and how much cooling you will have. Like most aliens these days there isn't much room for cooling so they are turning to water cooled CPU.
Really this just depends on how much you want to spend on updating a older PC or simply buy a new one. Or even build one, heck I built a nice PC for 2g with out GPU.

How much upgrade you can do the your graphics card is going to depend primarily on your power supply. What is the wattage of your current PSU?

@Wolfgang8565 Also, I don't see where the current GPU is
Your current GPU is in the red box. Based on you other components, I'm pretty sure you PSU will be 460 watts - max. Some things you might consider is removing those empty HDD cages in the bottom of the case for better air flow. I can't tell if the front HDD cage is occupied, but if not, remove it as well. Also, take your rig outside and use a leaf blower to get the dust out. Alternatively, canned air will work
You could upgrade to this GTX 1650 Super blower style graphics card without having to change your PSU.

I'm not sure where I can find that. I opened it up and don't see the label with the psu info. Also, I don't see where the current GPU is?
Thanks for the help so far!

@Wolfgang8565 New card
Yes . . . that is going to be too wide to close the case. The support bracket is not a problem with that short of a graphics card . . . but you want to be able the close the case.

@Wolfgang8565 I was able to close it without that latch do you think it should be fine?
I don't think it would hurt anything . . . but I would not leave it like that. It looks like 4.8 inches is too wide to close the swing-out PSU contraption. If you can return that graphics card we can find a manufacture with a little more narrow card.

OK, open the PSU swing-out contraption and post a photo of your new graphics card.
