My Aurora R5 just got a chipset update. I wanted to know what it was for?

Chipset updates are usually considered a welcome update to apply; often referred to as Chipset drivers, they're actually INF text files that tell the hardware what to do, you can research it further here, otherwise considered safe to apply the update

what is an INF? | Google what does the chipset INF do?

How to install | proper way to install

from 'proper way' link:

"If you’ve downloaded the zip version, extract it and you’ll get the file name infinst_autol.exe. Instead of just running the setup file that you’ve just downloaded, you’ll need to run it with an extra command line -OVERALL switch. For example:

infinst_autol.exe -OVERALL

You will notice that the Intel Chipset software installs more INFs compared to just running the setup alone without the -OVERALL switch"

____________

From my notes:

Unpack the setup.exe from the folder to a new folder on desktop

Create a desktop shortcut to the .exe

Add -overall to end of target line it should look something like this

"C:\Users\**YOURPCNAME**\Desktop\New folder\SetupChipset.exe" -overall

Right click shortcut and select "Run As Administrator"

Follow install instructions and reboot PC when installation finishes
