I've read that and other posts about memory on R7. 2 x 8GB Hyperx fury 2933 should work but it doesn't - just again tried one in each of the white folloed by one in the black slots, and get 4 flashes.
Unless there is something setting in the BIOS that I am missing, it looks like I will be returing these or selling on and get 16 GB and when maybe later on get another matching one; I went for 2 modules to be able to take advantage of two channel mode.
You may want to look at Crucial memory. That is what we have recommended for non-Dell branded memory over the years for all models. Dell's have had a history of memory compatibility and its always been a hit or miss. One specific brand/model may work great on one and on another of the same model not work. Crucial has been steady and guaranteed to work in a Dell.
I updated BIOS from .9 to .17, then tried the 2 x 8 GB RAM, in both white slots - no luck, the next combination was one was one white (furthest from VPU) and adjacent black, much to my surprise system booted up.
I see in my original post that I had tried this combination already so it appears there is something in the BIOS.

See THIS thread on Aurora and Hyper X memory. I don't know if its the same as your issue but worth checking out.
