Aurora R6, enabling Wake -on-LAN (WOL)
Hi All,
To enable the WOL functionality on my Alienware Aurora R6, I need to enable it in BIOS then Windows 10.
The BIOS menu item I need to enable is "Wake Up by Integrated LAN" in the Advanced menu.
However, the menu item is set to Disabled and greyed out so I can't even select it.
I am told by Dell that this is possible to do however it will cost $129 CAD for stepping me through this.
Does anyone on this forum know how this is done?
Thanks,
Randy

I have an Aurora-R6 with BIOS v1.0.5. I see the same.
It might be because we are in UEFI-Mode (which is best) or some other reason.
1. Have you tried just doing the Windows-10 config?
2. What is your local network config like?
3. What are you trying to accomplish exactly?

1. Hmm. In Device Manager? You are using the on-board Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet "card" right?
2. So, it's a residential peer-to-peer network behind a router?
3. Yeah, I use Real-VNC to the Macs, but I use Ultra-VNC from Windows to Windows. From a batch file, I wake with MagicPacket and then start VNC.
You might also check your Sleep-State config in Aurora-R6 BIOS. IIRC, the default was set so that after it fell asleep ... clicking the mouse-button would not wake it. It was easy to fix.

2. What local network configs are you asking for?
3. I have tightVNC installed on my Aurora R6. When it is not in use, I’d like it to go to sleep (S3). However, when I access it remotely via VNC. I would like it to wake up.

This is my Windows batch file. If you come-up with something better (maybe not even using MagicPacket), please let me know.

Ok so Dell Facebook got back to me with the solution:
1) In BIOS, go to Advanced > Power Options > Deep Sleep
2) Disable Deep Sleep
3) "Wake Up on Integrated LAN" can now be selected and enabled.
Hope this helps someone and saves them $129 CAD!
Thanks,
Randy

I would not suggest this. I just did this and my pc went into a boot loop. I had to reset the CMOS to fix it.
