X51 R2, restore to Windows 7

I have an Alienware X51 R2 desktop that originally came with Windows 7 but automatically changed to Windows 10 without my sayso.  So I want to change it back to Windows 7.  Can I just restore it or do I have to install the Windows 7 disk and go through the hassle of installing drivers. I don't care about backing up the data ; I guess I could just delete it before I restore.  If I can just restore it, will the "Repairs Computer" selection work since it is no longer in Windows 7?  Are there any other options I should be aware of since I am not concerned about data?

Hi @dick19

If the system already has the Windows 10 image, then a restore will not go back to Windows 7.

Looks like you'll need to perform a clean re-installation of Windows 7.

You should remember that Windows 7 will not be supported by Microsoft after Jan 14, 2020. No more security or other updates.

OEM Dell Media will be harder and harder to find.  There are no issues with using windows 10.

Two things:  After I "reinstalled" Windows 7, the reinstallation CD is stuck in the computer and the computer won't access the internet saying, "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adaptor.  If you have a network adaptor you will need to re-install the driver."

Any ideas?

The windows 7 media does NOT INCLUDE any drivers for Chipset, Audio, Network, etc.

Now you tell me.  Too bad the installation disk didn't come with detailed instructions and the disk didn't come with drivers.  Anyway I still don't know why I can't eject the disk.

Well I got the CD out.  I think I pushed on F2 before Windows and then I pushed on the CD ejection button.  Still no drivers.  So now when I boot up I get Windows 7 on the primary hard drive SSD.  So Windows is installed but no internet.
