X51 R2, upgrade to AMD RX 570?

Hello,

I just got this desktop thinking it would run R6 which it does but not to what I want it to. I was looking around and found a rx 570 I really liked so I got it not thinking of looking at the pin configuration. I found out it’s an 8 pin not a 6. So I was wondering if I just get a pci adapter will it be able to run and not destroy my desktop.

The problem is that you have either a 240W or 330W PSU. If you have the 240W, you are really limited and the 570 would not work. You would be looking at a GT 1030 or maybe a GTX 1050. But with a 330W PSU you have more options. The following forum posts should help.

Hey mate, I have an X51 R3, with a Gtx 1070ti freshly installed and its been running great, I'm not familiar with how much power the rx570 uses but if its the same or below a 1070ti's power consumption you'll be fine as long as you have the 330W brick.
