Alienware 14: BD-Rom-Drive (repetetive eject noise)

I've got an Alienware 14 (Windows 7) with a BlueRay Drive.

Every approximately 10 minutes it makes the eject disc sound. Its the same sound when you right click your Alien14 in "Devices and Printers" and chose "eject" -> "BD-ROM-Drive (E:)". However if i put a CD (or DvD/BD) into the Drive it stops happening. Also the fan gets a little bit louder after this sound.

I would appreciate it if someone could help me.

There isn't anything wrong with the computer.

What's going on, is an application that's running in the background.
It's mostly a power-saving feature. Causes the computer to think the BluRay drive is needed and triggers that sound.

Is it possible to cansel this procedures ? It is really annoying when this happens so often.

Edit:

It can't be normal. I'm sitting here trying to read a pdf-text and the drive makes this noise every 3 minutes...

I have the same issue.  It also causes a slowdown with all of my games whenever it occurs, causing the graphics to lag.

Hello, Alienware14Problem!

I also had that strange sound coming from my Alienware 14. At  first I thought it was the HDD I have. But no, to my knowledge it was it fact the CD-DVD

My quick fix was going to PC-Manage- Go to your devices - Go to CD-DVD & Disable it.

It did the trick for me. And if you are anything like me, you don't usually use the CD-DVD.

Hope this helps :D thanks

I have the same issue with my M14x.  The eject on my internal Matshita is trigger every 3 to 5 minutes.  It is loud and very annoying especially in class or at the library, and it also causes the laptop to heat up.  Disabling it or uninstalling it does not prevent it from triggering the eject.  Eventually it will burn itself out.  To say that there isn't anything wrong with the computer is very dishonorable.
