Alienware 17 mSATA Cache How does this work? Is this passive or do I need to do something? Please explain!

My AW17 laptop has two 1TB drive RAID 0 and an 80GB mSATA disk. How does the caching work. Does the OS notice how often I use specific programs and store them on the mSATA drive? Am I supposed to install apps that I plan to use most often on the mSATA drive. The HDDs are 5400 RPM drives. Would it be better to just use SSDs instead (obviously extra cost)? If I used SSDs would I still need or even want the mSATA drive? Is there a benefit to a larger mSATA drive or is there a case of diminishing returns after a certain size?

The IRST drivers does it on it's own.

I have questions, too, about the use of an mSATA SSD, as I plan to purchase an Alienware 18...

My own queries are to the storage relationship; as the SSD serves as a cache, does this mean the drive has an independent drive letter?  Can I defrag the main HDD without it causing damage to the system?
