Open the case and make sure the GPU has two cables and not one powering it. Each PCI-E power connection should be powered by its own PSU power cable. Do not use one cable to power both connections.

Could you take a pic of the cables and how they are plugged in? Use a cell phone if that is all you have. I want to see how it is wired please.

What I can see here in this pic is just a single cable. If you are using both pins pictured here then that is what is causing your problems. Dig around and find the other cable

When I say cable I mean a cable that has two connectors. Not the two connectors on a single cable.

IIRC, on an Area-51 ... you have 3 sets Yellow, Blue, and White

http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/p/19345069/19941711.aspx#19941711

Since Yellow and Blue don't seem to be enough, try White with either Yellow or Blue. We never got 12v rail assignments from Dell ... so it might turn out that 2 of those 3 are actually on the same rail.

If you haven't already, try reseating the card, clean driver installs, etc.

If you read the other thread, he couldn't find it at first either, but finally did. Actually, that message got deleted because, in his excitement, he typed a really bad word.

I don't think the Area-51 has more than one wiring harness, but they might. Morblore or Dell-Chris-M might know. Yes, about 4 different PS wattages, but only one harness (I think).

Originally when I contacted dells tech support they never said anything about a white cord I wonder. I wonder if the alx uses the same psu

My Area 51 Alx has 4 different cables for graphic cards.  I have duel ATI's and they have to connectors going to each card.  What I can't figure out is each cable has 3 connectors on them with 2 going to the cards and a black connector with 2 black wires in it goes to nothing.  What would the 3 connector go for?  I'm thinking if you had liquid cooling on the video cards.
