Alienware Aurora ALX ..Discontinued?
I could not help but notice that the Alienware Aurora ALX is no longer posted as a option and appears to be replaced by the Aurora Extreme...I just purchased my ALX and I adamantly inquired regarding the release of the SB i2600 process which I was informed Dell would not be rolling aout a next gen processor until the release of Ivy Bridge and now this...I just got my rig in October and feel extremely mislead by this bate & switch tactic you guys have just loss a avid XPS & Alienware supporter ...#SMH

According to the tech specs ... it's still SandyBridge based ... you're not missing much ... maybe fins and some lights. You were smart to pay less for the cheaper model.
EDIT: Sorry, I just re-read your original post. I thought you bought a Aurora-R3 (not the older X-58 based R2-ALX). Personally, I like X58 over SB. Now, if we were talking SB-E or Socket-2011 ... different story.

Yep, just noticed the Aurora ALX has vanished from the site. The Area-51 (non ALX) was gone from the site for a while too. Just reappeared recently and is alot more expensive then it was before. Maybe the ALX will come back eventually like the Area-51 did. I dont know what dell is up to, but to me its a day late and a dollar short.

Yea a poor business practice IMHO but at this point it's whatever I just hate that despite me inquiring about a product they insisted that their were no plans for system upgrades yet 1 month later here we are .....
