Alienware Aurora R4 "Base system driver" "Performance Counters" and "system interrupt controller" need drivers.

Hello, I have just installed a Samsung  SSD so done a re installation of windows twice now, I tryed a method i read someone else about installing the chipset drivers first before any others, But still no luck, I have installed ALL drivers from the resource CD that came with my alienware, and been on the dell driver website to install mouse and keyboard but still im left with this.

Any help would be appriciated

Thanks.

Ah, fixed it.  I downloaded and ran the 'Beta Version 9.3.2.1014' of the 'Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility' listed on this page: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_X79/#support_Download  (Drill down to Win7 x64 downloads)

This is a general driver installation utility for Intel chipsets, so I reckon it'll fix your problem as well.

Hi onza120,

It looks like the drivers have not been installed in correct order. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the Operating system, then download all the drivers onto the system and install it.

So do i need to do a fresh reinstall and do it in that order?

Could you tell me what drivers to install first as the list doesn't make too much sense, for example I don't know what driver falls under the category of dell system software.

I have reinstalled with the correct order and I'm still getting the same problem.

Interesting, it looks like you have Windows-7. The users in the other thread have Windows-8.

Yes, Intel Chipset driver should be the first driver you install after Windows-7 finishes installing. Exactly what driver file download are you using?

Can you run CPU-Z and verify processor and chipset?

I'm using the intel chipset driver on my resource dvd, But I have also used the ones from the dell driver support website, What I haven't done is download the ones from the website and install them first, But i doubt it would make much difference.

I have the same problem on my computer. Aurora R4, installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on 512 GB SSD.

Installed chipset drivers from Dell's Resource DVD, and I tried from their website (same driver) just cause.

Pretty ridiculous that this happens on a FRESH CLEAN install.

Dell, what is the ACTUAL manufacturer of this motherboard. Alienware didn't make it, who did. Asus, Intel, Gigabyte? We need to know so we can fix this with the correct chipset driver. The chipset driver on your site is from 2011. Which is OLD.

Hi onza120,

I would suggest you to flash the BIOS on the system again. Then reinstall the operating system manually. After the completing the windows installation then refer to the link below to install drivers in correct order.

What would flashing the BIOS help? i really don't wan to have to reinstall unless its a guaranteed fix.

I'm having this exact same symptom on my machine.  I have an Asus Sabertooth X79 mobo.  I had to flash the BIOS before even installing my processor since the out-of-box BIOS didn't support Ivy Bridge-E processors; I suspect this may be the cause of these phantom devices?

Has anyone else managed to solve this?
