Alienware M14x High temperature

Hi , I been using my alienware m14x for quite some time.
And recently I notice my GPU and core temp is very high.
They reach above 95*C while im playing games.

Even without doing anything. My GPU temp is running at 75*C.
Anything i can do about it to lower my temperature?

Im not using a cooler. Or maybe I should buy a cooler for my laptop?

Hi SpikyMelon,

I request you to clean the air vents using a can of compressed air. Then use the below link and run diagnostics:

Make a note of the error message that appears (if any). Then update BIOS by using the below link:

You may also use a cooler which helps greatly in reducing the temperature.

Another question here. If my laptop is staying home for long time just for gaming. Do you suggest me to take the battery out ? or just let it stay inside laptop?

Hi SpikyMelon,

Yes you can try it and get back to me.

Even if your computer stays at home you will need to use battery. Dell recommends you to use both as if there is a power failure there is a possibility that you may lose all unsaved data. It is similar to running a Desktop with a UPS.

i updated my bios. it does speed up my computer alot.

But my temperature is still staying high and will still experience fps drop when playing.

Should i consider reapply thermal paste?

Hi SpikyMelon,

I request you to use the below link and check the warranty status of the system:

http://dell.to/TPM8Xg

If the system is in warranty do send me the system service tag through private message.

To send private message, click on my name and select start conversation.

I would also recommend you to use an external cooling pad that regulates the system temperature.

If you have any other questions do reply to the same post.

Could my external monitor cause the FPS drop?
