The M14x hinge design is totally different from the M11x. We have received very few notices of M14x hinge complaints. In your case, the entire LCD assembly should be replaced to correct your hinge issue. Alienware support will need to look up the service tag number to know which LCD Assembly part number you will need to purchase.
I am also having the same issue with my m14x. I have already expressed my concerns with a few other people on a different forum. I noticed that your comment was answered by Fransisco, a Dell technician, and am curious if you were able to be helped fairly. I have had a terrible time with Dell/Alienware support as well. All they say is that the hinge is not covered under warranty (considering their terrible hinge designs, its temporarily great for business, [until more and more customers begin to drop Dell for "a better experience"] AWFUL for consumers) and i need to pay 430 dollars for repairs. I already dished out 1400 dollars on the m14x expecting the best in quality. A total of 1830 dollars on a 14 inch laptop that can barely run World of Warcraft on medium settings? I think not. Im hoping that you could shed some light on my predicament and I hope that your issue may have been resolved. You and I are not the only ones out there with this problem.
Hey Chris, just google M14X hinge problem... There are THOUSANDS of complaints about this.
I bought mine less than a month ago, and the hinge is already starting to creak. What do I need to do to make sure it doesn't break just like everyone elses?
Seriously, after a few weeks, I just sent it back. It was already creaking and feeling super weak. That's not good. But my ASUS Vivobook is rockin' it though!
