Alienware M17x R4 display problems

I got this display problem same as the thread below

http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19485126.aspx

http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/p/19463949/20172854.aspx

and today the dell engineer came and according to him most m17x r4 has this problems, even after he changed the LCD the problem still persists. Now it's waiting game again because I have to wait for another service appointment so they can try and change the video card or motherboard. I'm very frustrated with this laptop. I guess it's an expensive machine with very poor quality.

here are some screenshot of the problem

with the external monitor

Also according to the engineer changing the motherboard and graphics card is not guaranteed to solve the issue.Aand I'm like <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed per privacy policy>!?

Dell/Alienware what do I do now huh!?

Hi Reggieboyyeah,

Let's run the ePSA with the external monitor plugged in to see the results.

In the meantime, accept the friend request and please send me your service tag through a private message to look into your problem.

I suggest to open your laptop and try to check your memory if it is properly inserted or not.

Try to remove the memory.

Then, put only 1 memory card in the slot or switch both memory card from each slot.

Then observe.

Normally, its not the video card or motherboard is the problem but the memory as based on the picture you posted.

I'm curious to know if this problem was ever solved and what the problem turned out to be?

As of today, my M17X R4 has suddenly developed a display problem where I have a lot of flickering static/snow. When I hook it up to another monitor the display is perfect on the other monitor, but not on the laptop itself.

I'm rather annoyed and very disappointed with Alienware. These laptops aren't cheap and I've had stupid driver issues from the point I received this machine and now I have a (likely) expensive fix on my hands and my warranty expired a month ago.
