Alienware X51 sound problem

I bought my X51 last year and then upgraded the OS to windows 8 by myself.

I updated the bios and drivers accordingly , the audio worked fine at first BUT when I bought a new Sony TV monitor (KDL-22EX520) recently and started hooking it up to the computer using HDMI cable instead of DVI cable + audio cable, the sound would cut out randomly. For example, I play a song in Itunes and pause it for a minute, I replay again and then NO SOUND!!! Each time I have to log out and log in again to get the sound back and it is really annoying.

Is it a driver problem or anything related to the graphics card GTX555? Please help.

Hi ikarirei,

I
would suggest you to update the BIOS, chipset, audio and video card drivers using the links below in sequence to check if it fixes the issue.

BIOS                      : http://dell.to/1dNIBk6

Chipset                 : http://dell.to/1eLRJbU

Chipset 2              : http://dell.to/1ftOlnd

Audio                    : http://dell.to/192sboy

Video                    : http://dell.to/1h7MT5v

Also, please check with known good HDMI cable if the issue reoccurs.

Please let me know if this helps.

Be sure to have the correct audio settings as well. We wrote an article to deal with these type of issues.
