Alienware aurora R6 i5 cpu upgradable?

I am interested in a alienware aurora R6 i5-7400 model (getting a great deal) in the near future can I upgrade this cpu to a i7 chip? What is the most powerful i7 chip i can drop into this specific motherboard?

Hi ‌,

Yes, you will be able to do the upgrade later but only to the i7-7700 not to the i7-7700k due to a missing heatsink.

hmph. Aurora wasn't designed to support a customized upgrade ... heatsinks fall under the category of 'fat'

i7 7700K

Could you put a liquid coolant compatible with the socket of any brand (corsair, etc)?

due to its short tube length & reasonable price, the MH0HN cooler is a no brainer. I've seen other coolers go in, whose longer tubes lend to a cramped environment + anxiety-level of nth degree when closing the PSU shut (bruised tubes)

Kit > (Manufacturer part GJKDJ Dell part 412-AAJJ)

Link to this up close look

The K31VH Area-51 cooler also has 'short' tube length; if buying used, buy a pair (~$60 ea) and hold one as a spare

care is needed with longer tubes
