Area 51 R2 Blue ray player
Just got mine and there was no option to add a blue ray player. The machine has a slot loading position. Any idea what blue ray drive it takes?

Bumping, I don't want to buy a $130 slot loader to find it doesn't fit. Dell... any help here would be nice.

The DVD drive in my X51 is an HL GA50N, by scouring the web I discovered the HL CA40N was the blu-Ray equivalent ( looks identical ) which I upgraded to some 9 months back with no issues. I'd be surprised if the Area-51 was much different. But the only way you'll find out is by opening it up and taking a look.

I show that as an external player. How did you hook it up?

PS. That picture you post looks to be a generic picture and not the actual one. You'll see them on eBay.

So it is the drives from Hong Kong and China. Did you pay duty? The posted picture is from the DVD drive in it now.
Thank you BTW, I'll get one ordered today.

I don't think I was charged any duty, maybe I got lucky. If you search for HL bd-rom you'll see quite a few models, however just check it looks the same as yours and I'm sure you'll be fine. Btw, when mine arrived I believe it arrived with a clip-on bezel on the front, however it easily pulls off.
