Booting ubuntu install disk on Alienware 17 R4(November 2016)

Hey, new Alienware owner here- I got myself one of these sleek beasts on Cyber Monday; I'm a linux junkie so I'm looking to dual boot with Ubuntu.  I created a boot USB stick with Ubuntu 16.10, I went into the bios and added a new boot method from file- pointing it to the GRUB file on the stick.  When it attempts to boot from the stick I get a signature error and it fails to boot to the stick; takes me into Windows promptly.  Has anyone here dealt with this issue; how did you resolve it?
