Can the Alienware Aurora R4 SLI 2 GTX 580's?

It was a replacement which was ordered on January 25th and they said two weeks but there was a part shortage or whatever.

No charge it was a replacement for some reason they could not do it when they built the computer since there was no option for it. So they said they will send the cards to the tech to install after I get the computer, which I got today.

Dell tech will be installing dual gtx 580 on my r4 in a few day. So we will see what happens.

Itll be ok. Im running 7970 crossfire , all is good except bf3 lol

A r4 will in fact take twin 580's sli.

I pulled mine from my waterblocked liquid cooled system for this.

Cards used

Zotac's 3 gig 580's fermi's post conversion back to air cooled.

I made NO powersupply changes,

I also converted from a 3820i7 4 core  to a 3930 6 core on paper I think I still prefer the older x58 x980 but thats just me

The next step for me was the what I would call sucky ram 16 gig quad channel it came with.

My view,

Ram was a huge improvement.

I will give credit where credit is due I added the 2 drives ( it came with 2 1 tb raid 0 )

so I tossed in  2 3 tb datastar's 7200 64 meg cache raid 0  for applicaitons. no drive upgrade I ever did was so smooth.

vid cards not much more fps but less fragements, blue rays played better. warcraft smooth in raids crysus ran with max settings no problems..
