How can you disable the number pad on a 17 R3 laptop completely?

I have a rather cute kittycat caused issue. Every night as I'm relaxing for bed my grey kitty decides to come over lay down and use the number pad as a pillow.. sometimes reaching out and stealing my hand to hold or lay on. Anyways sometimes whatever key/s he's laying on is locking up the keyboard till he moves. Any way to disable them rather than having to evict my furry friend since I never use them?
