Huge m11x problem

so i bought an m11x right before heading to college, and ive been using it for a while and everything runs fine. until a few days ago because i started up half-life 2 a few days ago (after playing in college for a few days) and it did this thing were it would drop fps for like half a second, it does this with all games. and every other game i play runs slow as well. It happened after i tried installing an old cd disk of command and conquer tiberian sun. when i loaded it up a few things were missing and i noticed it started not working great on games. Could the game being installed wrong, or a faulty disk somehow damage my graphics card? or even my computer? it still runs my games just not well enough to even attempt to play them. I cant seem to get any response from searching myself....
