M17x R3 Upgrading?

Hello.

I was wondering if I could upgrade my 2 year old Alienware M17x R3 so it can run next gen games at a higher fps.

My current specs are:   I7 2670qm

                                         GTX 560m

                                         8gb RAM

I was thinking about upgrading my CPU or graphics card as they play the biggest roles in gaming.

Thanks

James.

Hello MrPudgey,

If you use your system mostly for gaming, the CPU that you currently have and the RAM are fine, if you want to upgrade something, it should be the video card. The highest models of video cards supported by Dell for your system are the Nvidia GeForce GTX 580m or the ATI 6990m, both great video cards.

It's not officialy supported by Dell to work on your system, so I'm not sure it'll work.

don't get confused the 675m is just a rebadged 580m for more money ..... if you actually check specs of the 675 and 580m u will see this ....

there are upgrades you can get to take your gpu up to the gtx 880m if you want... just go to youtube or ebay. there are companies who specialize in it, however, it won't be DELL certified. but if your alienware is 2 years old, it is probably no longer under warranty anyways. Best of luck...
