M18x-R2, no audio, 8.1 update
I have downloaded the latest drivers for my computer from the dell support site but I can not get my sound to work. It shows up in device manager but I get reports that there is no audio driver installed. I have upgraded to windows 8.1.

Ok. I tried the update again and this time everything seems to be working. I had to install the windows 8.1 driver for the 3-axis accelerometer controller but besides that it is working fine.

Did you install the Intel Chipset drivers and restart before you installed the Audio driver?

Chris advice is great, as well, if after doing that you continue to have the same issue, I will recommend you to flash the BIOS to the latest version, A12.

Hi Chris, I have downloaded the Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Driver but after unzipping the file, I get the message that my PC does not meet the minimum requirements. That is all, it does not tell me what the requirements were that have not been met. I have however been able to install the other two drivers.
Can someone please direct me to the page where I can download the A12 BIOS for my compter?

Try updating your chipset drivers from intel using the automatic driver updater:

I reloaded the system with windows 8. I talked to dell support for an hour and a half then talked to microsoft for about the same amount of time. No one could figure out why I had no sound. I have made a system image and will try it again later today.
Currently, everything is working as it should. I am thinking that drivers which work for windows 8 should work on windows 8.1...right????
