Motherboards issues?

SO i spoke with Dell and the lighting issues i am having were supposed to be fixed by a  command center patch that has been delayed yet again. That is fine, they also offered to replace my alienware r4 alx with a refurb, i said not at this time but i am having doubts. I am also having issues with my rear usb ports, a LOT of difficulty getting my sound card which is suddenly not detectable. I read on the forums that many people having usb issues also have MIO board issues, the daughter board that controls the lighting and vents. Should i accept the refurb offer? I am not mad just becoming dissiluusioned quickly... my wife wants one as her machine is quickly aging.. and for the first time am becoming hesitant to recommend her getting an alienware. I am about 2 years into my 4 year warranty.
