Multimonitor with AMD Radeon 7970M HD doesn't work.

I'm trying to setup a multiple monitor setup with my m17x. However, I'm running into the issue that the monitors only work by themselves, not both. One monitor is hooked up with a VGA cable. The other is hooked up with the HDMI cable.. how do I fix this so that both are recognized?
