My Power Supply

My alienware x51 is overheating alot so i am changing to a case with more space and fans. This to me is a great time to upgrade parts i want to buy a gtx 770 or 780 and 16gb of ram. I know the power supply is not high enough and plus the external adaptor provided does not mount to the new case. I was going to add a coirsair 1000w supply. Will this damage any parts or is it just not designed for that?

also certain tags for this post are wrong but i dont know where to remove

The motherboard in the x51 has not been certified as being capable of handling more than 600W PSU.

That's based on what some other posts about PSU upgrades have said

so i can go upto a 600W power supply on the mother board.

I think i am going to get a second power supply aswell as a 600W just for the graphics card.
