Need recovery media (after HDD crash) - Alienware X51
My son's X51's hard drive crashed and the Windows recovery partition is not booting. We never made recovery disks. To make matters worse, his CD/DVD drive hasn't worked for years since a CD got stuck in it. We may retry another CD/DVD drive, but as for now, our biggest problem is that we don't have any recovery media. We've got a new hard drive, and now just need a way to boot and recover to it.
Is there a way to create recovery media (DVD or USB) after the fact of the HDD crash?

After you get the genuine Dell Windows7-64 disc, you can use a utility to create a bootable flash drive and boot from that instead to install Windows fresh (if you have no other reason to repair/replace DVD drive).
They are here: http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&cs=19&docid=549172&doclang=en&l=en&s=dhs

The above person has answered your question, and maybe it solve your problem. Here i want to add one point, and it is only my suggestion. The best way is to create a bootable disc, after your system crash, you can restore from the bootable CD/DVD or ISO file. But you don't have any recovery media. In the future, you'd better backup your entire disk or create bootable disc to avoid the same problem. If you need to backup, genie backup and aomei backupper can do, i used aomei,it can help to create a bootable media easily, more details: http://www.backup-utility.com, As for your question, you can do as Alienware-Milena said.
