New M17xR3 freeze when nvidia gtx560m driver is installed
Hi All,
My new M17XR3 works fine only when the nvidia driver 269.03 is removed and system works with Intel graphics driver.
If I install 269.03 or 285.62 (both from Dell website) the system hangs and freeze after few minutes. Only solution is reboot by power button and remove nvidia driver, booting laptop in safe mode.
Bios is A08.
I think the problem is nvidia driver, but at the moment I haven't fix the problem.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks
Aimee K.

Try removing both graphics drivers again, reboot, reinstall latest onboard graphics driver, reboot, go to nvidia and download the latest beta driver (290.53) select the option to do a clean install, after the install, reboot. this process worked fine with my m17x r3 with same vid card. if that still doesn't work just reload the laptop with a fresh win7 install if you can.

Nothing to do....
It still doesn't work: I have:
removed Intel driver
reboot
removed Nvidia driver
reboot
reinstalled Intel driver (8.15.10.2342)
reboot
reinstalled nvidia driver (clean installation of 269.03 driver)
=
freeze again....
Thank a lot !!

You might want to visit the NBR forums also.

Hi Alls,
after few months I'have fixed the freeze problem as described in the first post. After the solution was found no freeze event has occurred (1 week 12 hours/day of M17xR3 work). I'have tested the gpu and it works fine (I have executed some nvidia demo with success and installed flightgear that works very fine on 560m geforce gpu).
In the next days I will describe the (my) solution and the result of the cuda environment installation on my M17xR3.
The nVIDIA driver was the same official from Alienware site 269.03....
There is some work for Nvidia/Microsoft....
Stay tuned.
Thanks for all

There is an even newer driver in NVIDIA's site (296.10)
www.geforce.com/.../42588
Try installing this one.

Hi All,
The problem is resolved.
I have stopped these two nvidia service:
1) NVIDIA Driver Helper Service
2) NVIDIA Update Service Daemon
Also I have put the services status to manual.
Until now 07.15.2012 the system works very fine and no one crash has occurred.
The GPU works very good also.

1) NVIDIA Driver Helper Service -> C:\Windows\system32\nvvsvc.exe
2) NVIDIA Update Service Daemon -> C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA Updatus\daemonu.exe
After this, my M17xR3 works very, very fine. No freeze, no problem occurred since that moment.
Thanks and ask me if you need other info (for example a print screen)

Hi All, sorry for delay.
I've stopped (put in manual start state) this two nvidia service:

2) NVIDIA Update Service Daemon -> C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA Updatus\daemonu.exe
After this, my M17xR3 works very, very fine. No freeze, no problem occurred since that moment.
