If the download is from Dell you should not need to uninstall the older one.

thanks again Chris, you are super helpful as always

I was not even aware of my downloads.. the link you gave. I will try it now

I was checking into drivers section to see if I could get anything in general and I was using the dell support center tool

There used to be a link that you could use to scan my system... from dell. is this still available, it was a great on line tool

I cant get into the "my Downloads" system. I have tried, this is the first time I used it today. I tried several times and get a message that my system is being scanned.. and after over 1 hour each time, I give up.

I have a hard time following threads, busy with my mom who has a new diagnosis of cancer

Log into the My Dell Downloads and search for THX.

2 I get a screen that seems like the introduction to the process

Welcome to My Dell Downloads
where you can access software titles
purchased with your computer.

Its easy to get started. Here's how:

It mentions steps

1-2-3 as listen below

Register to conveniently view the software titles purchased in one central location.

Instantly download software anywhere, anytime.

Re-install software or create backup discs for future use.

Then I have to click on a link that says CONTINUE

3 OK, so I click on that link

4 a screen comes up with Sign me into my dell account.

- so I do all that, all the correct data

5 then a registration screen for MY DELL DOWNLOADS comes up

- step 5 is broken down into 5 a and 5 b

5-A

I have to look at the user agreement

Check that I agree

Below that there is something about Registering Your System

5-B

** after I have clicked on AGREEING WITH USER AGREEMENT..

the same screen is there but they add a link

The link for REGISTERING YOUR SYTEM  IS THERE.. so I click on that

6 Then I get a pop up  from Microsoft internet security

saying  “ a website wants to open content using this program on your computer”

- the program is listed as  SYS PRO

- by DELL INC

7 I click on ALLOW

8 a screen pops up from the My Dell Downloads site

It looks like the same screen in step 5, instead of the link for REGISTERING your system that popped up after I clicked on * agreeing wish user agreement*  there is a process with a “circle motion wheel” saying

Examining your computer please wait….

-        So that’s it, I wait for hours, nothing happens

Does this help ?. Thanks Chris. Your are UNDERAPPRECIATED on this forum.

Thanks for all that you do

Best Regards

Kim

I hope this helps Chris

Basically I clicked on the link you provided for my previous question re how to get the driver, ( I had not heard of my downloads.. if you can believe that.. I just checked monthly by signing into my account and checking out drivers and the dates)

It has been a pain in the neck process to keep this computer updated...

If I can help further, you know my email address so just contact me\

I give you permission to sign into my account at Dell if this helps, I trust you

Happy New year !

thanks

I logged into the site and can see the "My Download Locker". Walk me though what your doing when you go to the site. Do not put any usernames or passwords on this thread.

Hi

Don't Alienware computers  come with Thx studio software? Download notes mention Thx. Thanks.

FYI

I usually log into dell.ca

I have never seen anything like mydownloads locker or anything that helps regarding my specific system. I never heard of my downloads locker actually.

With the old XPS that was returned, this is what I did before it died

- I used the dell support center, I also logged on line to a dell site "check my system" or something like that... I also checked on line re driver updates.. and tried to keep track of what was new myself

Now with this Alienware computer ( sent as XPS died last may)... I tried the dell support centter but this is not help at all whatsoever re my systerm, I cant find the check my system site, I just check out the driver section once in a while when I can... ( harder to to recently with family illness)

nothing automated seems available...

best regards
