PSU upgrade

Hello. I want to upgrade my X51 R2's GPU from a gtx 745 to a gtx 970. But to do that I would need a 330W PSU, instead of my current 240W. My only question is, this:

Can you just plug that 330W instead of the 240W? or do you need to adjust something first?

You would want to use a blower style GTX 970 (blower style GPUs blow fan hot air out the case, while the others move air into the case). PNY and EVGA have  GTX 970s that should fit in the X51. ASUS, Gigabyte and I think Gainward does as well, but ASUS and Gigabyte's are overclocked, so they aren't generally recommended.

We sold it with the 330w AC adapter, Y90RR. So that will be fine. Concerning the video card upgrade;
* You cannot use any video card that uses more than 150w on our 330w AC adapter
* The video card must not be bigger than 9.5" x 4.3"

Thanks. that helps.

Nvidea lists the 970 at 145W and the 745 at 55W. So the 330, so that should just work in terms of power supply.

But regarding the 970, what type of 970 would be a good recommendation? There are quite a few out there and I'm not sure which to choose.

Thanks. I think I will go for the EVGA version. But there is till one thing that worries me.

On this forum (see link bellow), in the last post, gumz61 says something about precision x to 'throttle down' his gtx 970 and of getting a hissing sound from his psu. Could someone explain this to me?
