Recommended CPU upgrade for M17x R1
Hi,
I have an Alienware M17x from about 2008 and was considering upgrading the CPU to possibly improve performance.
I included my CPU info and was wondering what are the recommended upgrades for this socket and if there would be a substantial improvement seen on processing heavy work (e.g. statistical calculations using R Studio)?
Thanks in advance,

Thanks. for the information? Are you certain on the higher performing CPUs? I looked up the Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme Processor QX9300 and it appears to be compatible with the Socket P (478) not 479. Just want to confirm that this is a valid upgrade. Thanks in advance.
