Replacing mother and CPU on old X51

Hello,

I hope someone can help me, I have bought a old Alienware X51 and I'm thinking about replacing the motherboard and CPU to something a little more modern.

Can I just drop in any Mini ITX Motherboard or do I need to get replacement one from Dell?

Kind Regards

If you could tell us the CPU model, then we can tell you what kind of motherboard to get.

Yes, you can just drop the mobo into any other case. The only things you won't have to transport are the external PSU and the daughter/power board. However, the converse isn't true. The X51's mobo is a special shape designed for the case, so any old mobo won't work.
