Sound system cannot be detected; unable to reinstall drivers for Windows 8.1

I recently upgraded my Windows to Windows 8.1 on my Alienware M14x R2. Or rather, forced into the update since Windows didn't give an option about it at all.

So after the update, I notice that the sound has degraded - the bass is gone. So I looked up the problem and found this: answers.microsoft.com/.../adc59617-5ec0-4235-a2c0-f14b24b34537

The advice was to remove the drivers and reinstall it. I did just that. Unfortunately, here comes my nightmare.

I downloaded the drivers from here and here. I even downloaded the Recon 3D driver from Creative website itself, and some other online sources. However, I keep getting this message:

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system"

I'm not a technical person and I'm now at my wits' end. Can someone help me please? :'(

I would recommend you to uninstall the driver completely then flash or reflash the Bios to the latest version and reinstall the audio driver.

Let us know it that helps you.
