Throttling 17 R3 GTX980 Problem
I have an Alienware 17 r3 gtx980 i7 16gb ram i keep getting a really fast fps drop after like 10 mins of gaming on over watch and BF1 beta (when it was out) its really annoying i go from like 100-200 fps to 10-30 and when i look on task manager it says its on like 0.73GHz instead of like 2.7GHz when its running fine, its really annoying and is there any solution's, the over watch performance stats indicator thing (like fps counter) shows my temperature, not sure what of but it says 70 degrees Celsius as it always does when playing over watch, i even have raised the back of my laptop with 2 ice cream sticks ? PLEASE HELP. i have even contacted over watch support and had a 2 hour long chat with them, whist they tried to figure it out, and they said my laptop was over heating but??? please help, i have seen others with the same problem PLEASE HELP? ASAP ;)

Hi,
Try updating the video driver and the BIOS driver from our website.
Also try running a video card stress test. Follow the steps below to do this.
If you do not have Support Assist installed, click here for the download link. Let me know how high the GPU temperature goes in the stress test.

Have you changed any setting to help with performance?
Try some or all of these.
Right click on start button and open control panel - Small icons.
Then open "power options" icon
Click "Show additional plans"
Select "High Performance" and click save.
Open command centre and make sure the CPU/GPU is set to run at full power.
Make sure you have the latest GPU drivers installed.

Adam, I have the identical system. Check your power supply, is it 240watts or 180watts?

Hi,
The same is currently happening to me. I do have the same specs, Alienware 17 r3 gtx980 i7 16gb ram. Up to this date i had no concern running Overwatch specifically without any frame rate drops from the games release date. the last two days im running to serious fps lose.
All of my drivers are up to date but can not seem figure out what is causing this concern. Please respond at the utmost urgent
Thank You

that's the input voltage. I was referring to the output power. it should be in watts. like 240W or 180W.

Hi Adam, near the input voltage there's the MODEL of the powerbrick . It says for instance GA240PE1-00. What is yours?
