USB C 17-inch R3 ignorance

I have a new Alienware laptop, 17-inch R3 with a USB-C port.   I understand that I can get video out of this port.

Can anyone recommend a good connector with which they have had success to drive a dell monitor that supports 1920 x 1200?   The monitor has HDMI, Displayport, and DVI and VGA inputs.

Many thanks for your help,

Byron

I got this to use with my existing display port cable. I'm using it for a 2560x1600 dell monitor.

If the link is blocked... I got it from amazon, It's a VisionTek USB 3.1 Type C to DisplayPort Adapter (M/F) - 900817

Hi,

Does your monitor need to be connected to the USB-C port? There is also an HDMI port on the back of this system.

Yes, I'm looking to run two external monitors which my old alienware (2009 model) would do with the hdmi & either the display port or vga connector.   As this one only has HDMI and the usb-C port, I'm needing something to get feed out of the usb-C port.

That makes me wonder- if I run HDMI out of the port, will I still get hdmi out of the HDMI port on the back or will it only be one or the other?

Yes you can drive two different monitors. I have an hdmi to dvi cable going to an older 21inch lcd and the display port adapter cable I linked earlier going to my 30inch lcd monitor, plus I still have the 4k laptop display running also for 3 separate screens total.
