Upgrading to Windows 8
I have a Alienware Aurora R4 that I purchased in 2012 and I'd like to install windows 8 on it. I am planning on buying it from the store for $120 and would like to do a clean install of it. My question is if I do a clean install will it delete all my alienware programs like, respawn, etc. I don't care if it deletes other files because I have them all backed up.

Exactly ... Image system. IMHO, 3rd party tool provides more functionality and flexibility than ReSpawn. And as it stands now, only function of ReSpawn is to restore Recovery Partition ... which is old Win7 and old drivers ... you would likely never need to do that.
As a second insurance ... straight-file backup your important data files to external media.
As for custom Alienware Items:
- Save Alienware Theme(s) for possible later restore in Win8
- Save Alienware Username pics
AlienFX? That's part of Command Center for Desktops suite (MIO-Board drivers and Apps). That gets installed toward the end of your build-up (see my favorites)..

Yes, that's kind-of the point ... to start new.
And yes, a clean-install is better than upgrade/overlay install (less problems afterwards).
You can use something like Acronis or other Partition Imaging tool to save current config ... and/or to replace "AlienRespawn-like" functionality.
