X51-R2 Upgrade
Hello.
I own a X51-R2 that came with a GTX 745. What is the best possible GPU upgrade? And, can the PSU be upgraded, as well?
Thanks!

Make sure you have the Alienware™ 330 Watt Power Supply - Dell Part# : 332-1432
The Alienware X51 Andromeda R5 Graphics Card Requirements:
A few suggestions that meet the criteria:
PNY XLR8 GTX 960 Performance Edition
EVGA GTX 970 Reference Clocked 04G-P4-1970
EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked 04G-P4-1972
Identical Cards. Different Firmware / BIOS
9½" GTX 970 in the Alienware X51 Graphics Card Adapter ready for installation.

It has to be a Dell PSU. Unless you are up for modding, which is unnecessary, you only need to get the Dell 330w PSU charger for the X51/m18x/18.
Typing in X51 330w PSU into amazon or ebay should be enough to fiund what you need. As well, Dell sells the 330w PSU.
I hope you realized this before, but if you haven't, the X51 only uses external PSUs. Never has Dell/Alienware sold an X51 with an internal PSU. Your current 240w PSU is that power brick you see outside the X51.

Thanks for the response.
My PC has a 240W PSU, that's why I wondered about a PSU upgrade. I should have noted that in the OP. Is it possible, anyway? If not, what is the best possible GPU upgrade for my model?

Well yes, you can upgrade the PSU. Just get the 330w PSU and you'll be good to go with a GTX 970.
With a 240w PSU, the best you can get is a GTX 750 ti.

Thank you.
Could you point me in the right direction? Can I buy a third party PSU, or do I have to get it from Dell? Or is it an external PSU?
Could you provide some links if possible?
Cheers.

Much appreciated.
I hadn't realized that was the actual PSU. Thanks a lot for the help. I'll be buying it and upgrading to one of the suggested reference GPU's above.
Cheers.
