Yes actually that wireless card does not support 5 GHz.

Which WIFI card do you have? It is recognize in the device manager? Are you able to see the active networks? Or do you have any other information that you can provide us?

The WiFi cards in the x51 are . There's no skating around it. I can't connect to my 5Ghz channel either. But my ipad can. It's that ridiculous. What you need to do is buy a replacement card for inside the machine, or get a USB wireless receiver. Like this one I found on amazon.

I am running windows 8.1 and the network card is
Dell Wireless 1506 802.11b|g|n (2.4GHz), i see my network but not on 5gh. I just bought the computer like 4 days ago i can return it very fast.
