I have a aurora R2 desktop with the i5 and Im wondering if I can upgrade to i7 processor?

I think its got the P55 mother board.I read it previous generation compatible?

Will none of the newer processors work?

Thanks for any help..

Hi nbfreak2,

Alienware Aurora R2 desktop uses an Intel P55 chipset. So the compatible processors with this chipset are:

(1) Intel Core i7-870 Processor (8M Cache, 2.93 GHz)

(2) Intel Core i7-860 Processor (8M Cache, 2.80 GHz)

(3) Intel Core i7-860S Processor (8M Cache, 2.53 GHz)

(4) Intel Core i7-870S Processor (8M Cache, 2.66 GHz)

(5) Intel Core i7-875K Processor (8M Cache, 2.93 GHz)

(6) Intel Core i7-880 Processor (8M Cache, 3.06 GHz).

If you have any further questions do reply to the same thread.
