non-stop hdd activity.

OK, I'm at a bit of a loss here... the drive activity light is on solid from the moment I turn it on until the second I power the laptop down.  It's a 15 r2 with windows 10 (gag).  I've done the usual tricks like scandisk, defrag, disabling non-essential applications, clean boot, and so forth and so on.  resource monitor doesn't show anything all that excessive, just non-stop.  The biggest offender is the event log, why I don't know. and the map2 and map3.map files.  Anybody else run into this?

Hi,

Try running an ePSA/Diagnostic test on the system, click here to view a Dell article that explains how to run this test. Let us know if you receive any errors.

Try this:

Go into Task Monitor and deselect all but the necessary START UP programs/apps. Right click on the programs and select disable.

You can also check Control Panel, Programs and Features to see if there are any programs that may have downloaded that you did not intend.
