Forgot to mention, only buy reference designed cards with the single blower fan design. They spit the hot air outside of the x51 and work best.

GTX 660 is the best video card available for that platform. Some users may state that a different one works properly however our engineering department has not tested full functionality, therefore we can only recommend the nVidia GTX 660, GTX 555 and GTX 545 for the x51. If you require pricing info or tech specs you can send us an e-mail to AlienwareUpgrades@dell.com and we'll be happy to serve you.

Got a gtx 660ti, plug and play works brilliantly. Cool quiet and very powerful.

Currently have the OEM 660 and it performs perfectly at the moment since the new driver release yesterday, to give you some idea on Ultra settings in Battlefield 3 i am getting average 50fps in heavy battles but it does range from 49-79fps otherwise, i am still testing this card and new driver however things are looking good.
If you didn't get the system with the OEM 660 then the best results i have read are from the EVGA GTX660ti
Be aware you need the system with the 330w AC adapter to run this card.
If it was me i would go this route.
