Area-51m R1, memory upgrade 128GB?
Hi,
Just ordered Area-51m i9-9900K RTX 2080. Has anyone tried to upgrade the RAM to 128GB? What is the maximum I can reach here? If Yes, what RAM manufacturer should I go with?
Thanks, Monty

Hi @Monty M18,
Four SoDIMM slots
DDR4
2400 MHz
64 GB
8 GB
4 GB, 8 GB, and 16 GB
So, 64GB is the maximum validated RAM for your system. Regarding manufacturers, you can use: Kingston, Toshiba or Samsung.

HIDevolution who is an authorized Alienware reseller in Los Angeles has tested 128GB DDR4 2666MHz of RAM and it works albeit at 2400MHz. speeds for now. They had trouble getting it to boot at first but when they installed the RAM Modules one at a time and booting up after every module install, they got all 4 to work properly. That's how I've ordered my system hopefully Dell might give us a BIOS update to support 2666MHz. RAM

Hi @ArchyGamer
Can be done but is not something that we recommend since it can present issues.
If you want to try it, you'll need to take this into consideration when purchasing the RAM: same brand, same size, same speed, same specs.

When can we expect to go higher than 2400mhz?

Good day, why that powerful system support only up to 2400mhz? its bottlenecking cpu performance, also my old aw15 r3 supported up to 2667mhz, and you can imagine my reaction when i realised that z390 chip can only handle 2400...

Would Corsair sticks work within my Area 51 R2 (purchased in 2015)? Yesterday I purchased 4X8gb sticks to give me 32GB of ram only to find out that they will not work with my default setup. Stick configuration and 3600 MHz apparently are off.
If I purchase 2x16GB DDR4 2400 Corsair sticks this should work if I am not mistaken. Plug and play. I am following the specs that you shared. Only difference is the manufacturer (not Kingston, Samsung, or Toshiba).
Also... if these work does the slot I snap them into matter? I have 4 slots which I will place these 2 in.
This thread has been very helpful! Thanks

I’m planning to get the R2 version. Hopefully I can get it with 128gb memory from a reseller. I wish Dell had a option to buy it with 128gb memory.
