Area-51m, only uses Nvidia GPU, battery drain

Hello,

I've only had my Area 51m for around 3 weeks so it may have always been like this. But I've noticed that in general use (Chrome, Emails etc but not gaming) Windows will only use my Nvida card (RTX 2070) and not the onboard Intel card.

I did try reinstalling various intel drivers from the support page on Dell but no luck. GPU 0 always shows 0%

When I try and launch intel graphics control panel, I get the below error

Is this normal behaviour?

Task manager

Hi again

I cannot open Intel® Graphics Control Panel either.

It doesn't help a piece of advice from Microsoft

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000032309/graphics-drivers.html

They suggest contacting with Intel Support if this issue persists. You will have to use

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-?product=91600

My driver is dated 25.09.2019, version 26.20.100.7262.    And yours?

During installation of 26.20.100.7262, A03 I had Blue Screen.

There is a new Intel driver ver.26.20.100.7584 available  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29274/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers?product=80939 but it cannot be installed on Alienware.

Hi

It's solved.

The simplest solution is the best one.

Uninstall Intel® Graphics Control Panel and install from Microsoft Store. That's all.It worked in my case

https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/adc2cs/if_you_cant_open_the_intel_graphics_control_panel/

It works.jpg

So half success. Still 0% for Intel

Thanks, I did the same and although I am able to launch the graphics control panel it still shows 0%.

Problem seems to be that windows defaults to the RTX 2070 for all tasks, although even when I disable the RTX 2070 in device manager, the intel internal graphics adaptor still shows 0%.

Short update for anyone who's interested. Dell claim the area 51m I have will not have Optimus on it hence the Nvidia GPU is always used. This can't be true can it?

Hi, it's the same, my alienware 51m only works with the rtx 2070 and the integrated graphics of the intel 9700k does not work for me.

If you have any solution please comment it

Thank you
